SEO Link Building Blog

SEO offers webmasters the chance to accelerate their traffic through organic and natural methods.

The effectiveness of their results will always be founded upon the amount of research and time they inject into their projects. Through learning the keyword patterns in their industry and which phrases Google deems as valuable, a webmaster can refine their page titles, content and layouts to suit the demands of industry clients. This essential part of SEO method was put under attack today when a former FTC employee (Chris Soghoian) filed a class action lawsuit against Google for their disclosure of information to third parties.
The lawsuit claims that when Google supplies third parties with its search records they are disclosing private and personal information. This highly sensitive and personally identifiable type of information is referred to as PII. The claim asserts that this information is sold to third parties that include marketers and data brokers. The search queries that are deemed to be PII include the
following types: names, addresses, numbers, bank details, political and religious details, sexuality and confidential medical information. The claim’s main point of protest is regarding the protection of personal identity.

Google has, and will presumably utilise, the following counter-arguments -

Encrypted Web Search:

Google already offer users the opportunity to use a protected type of search. Google encrypted web search protects its users through ensuring that none of the search queries are passed onto third parties of any kind.

No breach in privacy:

Google will be sure to admit that it transfers search information to third parties, but that is not a crime in itself. If it was, every search engine in existence should be held accountable for privacy violations. Google does not pass to webmasters the source of the search queries. The data is purely out of context when transferred – you will not be able to tell, where, who
or what typed in that search query.
It is essential for the SEO world that this case is easily won by Google. The information that Google discloses to third parties is the only way that webmasters can work to improve their search engine rank. The information, that is very rarely considered personal, is used to analyse trends and search popularity. Both webmasters andSEO companies alike rely on this invaluable source of information.
